Moon is a rocky old ball of 4.6 millions
of years, which makes a complete rotation
around Earth every 27 days, 7 hours and
43 minutes.
|
 |
The diameter of Moon is about 3.476 kilometres,
more than one quarter from the diameter
of Earth. Its mass is about 1/81 from these
last one, and its density is 3/5.
|
 |
The lunar gravity is about 1/6 from the
gravity of Earth.
|
 |
The temperature into surface raises up
to 100°C at lunar half-day, and falls below
to –155°C in the half-light.
|
 |
The lunar surface is rocky and covered
with craters. Mounts and hills surround
immense plains! The lunar mountains, which
heights reach 7800 meters, are comparable
to the highest summits on Earth, but they
are not generally very steep.
|
 |
Moon turn in the anticlockwise at a speed
from about 3476,18 km/hour. By her
elliptical orbital revolution, its distance
to Earth varies 365.000 km at its perigee,
409.000 km at its apogee, when Moon keeps
off Earth. The average distance is 385.000
km or about 60 times, the Earth radius.
|
 |
The rotation plane is tilted about 5
degrees in relation to the elliptical.
|
 |
There is no air on Moon (so none sounds)
: according to the NASA, it is recently
announced the presence of water, between
10 and 300 millions of water tonnes under
the shape of ice would be buried in the
underground from the craters of lunar poles.
|
 |
It exists darker areas on Moon. These
last one are really dry, but a long time
ago, the astronomers thought that they were
recovered with waters, hence their names
“sees”. In fact, it is the interior of great
craters which covered from cold magma, risen
again during deep impacts four millions
years ago.
